Looking Ahead to February (2016)

This year, I've made it my goal to plan a little bit more in advance for my posts, so that you have ideas in advance of holidays and seasons and so that I'm not running around like crazy trying to pull something together at the last minute.  Because as much as I hate to admit it, I was doing too much of that last year, and I don't really like it.  I really prefer to plan ahead. That being said, I've set aside time at the end of each month as a business day to work on my plan for…

Work-in-Progress Wednesday: DIY Christmas Cards for the Classroom

Welcome to another Work-in-Progress Wednesday! Today, Princess Anna and I were working on her Christmas cards for school.  I don't know about you, but I always feel guilty when the kids bring home cards from most of the other kids when we didn't send any.  So here I am making our own.  Because (I think) it's cheaper.  You just need some cardstock; some printer paper; some glue or double-sided tape; some crayons, markers, or colored pencils; and of course ink in your printer.  Unless of course you want to draw everything by hand, in which case...more power to you!  But…

Planning for Summer: Being Creative

One of the most important things to me when parenting my children is encouraging their creativity and the creative process.  Since the start of my parenting journey, I've been all for creative play: less about the toys that do things for you and more about the dolls and legos, crayons, paper, etc.  Apparently I did a good job of this too, because my kids have this knack for making just about anything using paper and an ENTIRE roll of tape. So that being said, of course I am all for encouraging creativity throughout the summer.  Here are some of the…

Scrapbooking (and Smashing!) Heaven

Yesterday, I was on the hunt for lots of miscellaneous scrapbooking and smash booking STUFF.  At this point, I really don't remember exactly what I was looking for, but I'm sure I got way off track in the process anyway.  I have a major problem with scrapbooking supplies.  And digital scrapbooking supplies.  I have yet to really get into digital scrapbooking, but I am seriously considering it.  The only down side is that I can't paste any other additional ticket stubs or keepsakes in it.  (If you have a solution for this, please let me know!) Anyway, I've found a…
