Why I Admire Homeschool Moms

Last week I talked a little bit about the disagreement between moms about which is better: working or staying at home. Likewise, there is also disagreement about whether to homeschool children or send them to either public or private school for their education. It can be a really tough decision choosing between the public and private schools in houston, let alone bringing homeschooling into the mix! There is just so much to think about. Choosing the type of school is just the beginning, as then as a parent you need to pay close attention to the secondary school league tables,…

The Best Shoes

In Ephesians 6:15, Paul tells us: For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In order for us to really understand this verse, I think we need to dissect it first.  Let’s start from the beginning. Why shoes? Here's why: Sometimes you…

Where’s Your Helmet?

These days it seems you have to have a helmet for everything: hitting a baseball, bicycling, driving a motorcycle, working on a construction site, playing football, fighting a fire...you get the point. Not only this, quite often safety head lamps are needed too, especially when working on construction sites or for cycling in the dark. Being able to see what you're doing limits the amount of injury you can do to yourself... I would hope anyway. It's because of past mistakes and the latest up-to-date safety precautions that we are required to (or at least strongly requested to) wear helmets.…

I recently finished my second Jennie Allen book.  After reading Restless at the beginning of this year (I think it was this year anyway), I was excited to read another of Jennie's books, this one called Anything.  Anything was originally published in 2012 but was re-released this year on June 9 to include a new introduction as well as an added Bible study component. Anything is partly a story…
