2016 Super Summer Recap

Now that the kids are on their second day of school, I can officially conclude that Super Summer 2016 is now complete. This summer wasn't exactly what I expected. Having said that, I didn't accomplish a lot of the things that I wanted to, and we didn't get to do a lot of things that were on our bucket list. All this makes me feel slightly disappointed in myself, but I have to remember that the side hustle I was working on took up a lot of my time which made it impossible to do all that I set out…

5 Ways to Give at Back-to-School Time

I am so looking forward to this Sunday. This Sunday is our outdoor service, our church picnic, and most importantly, the blessing of the backpacks--a service we've had ever since before I even joined the church 9 years ago. This is no ordinary church event. During the Sunday school hour, of course the kids play games, eat snacks, and learn about Jesus, all of which are typical for Sunday School. When You Thought You Were Reading Something Else…

Have you ever picked up a book thinking it was going to be about a certain topic only to find out between the first and last chapters that you'd been deceived?  I just read a book like that; it's called Heart Made Whole by Christa Black Gifford. I'm currently conducting research for my next book, and the reviews were all fantastic, so I figured that Heart Made Whole would make a good addition to my library of research.  I read the first chapter expectantly and really liked the book.  I expected to give it rave reviews, but then it all went downhill.…

5 Tips for Getting Organized for the School Year

If your kids have been in school now for a year or more, you know that the school year can, at times, feel like a whirlwind of insanity. There are concerts to attend, meetings to attend, after school activities, games, java homework assignments to work on, PTO events, and more. Life can get pretty chaotic, and you may end up feeling exhausted after that long list of to-dos has been completed (or, let's face it--only half finished). I know how crazy the school year can get. That's why we do our best to stay organized throughout the school year in…
